Converse is honoring the memory of late skater Ben Raemers and aiming to shed a light on the importance of mental health in the skateboard community by teaming with The Ben Raemers Foundation for Mental Health Awareness. Started in 2019 after Raemers — widely regarded as one of the best British street skaters ever — took his own life, the Ben Raemers Foundation for Mental Health Awareness was created to promote mental well-being and cast away the stigma of discussing mental health for skaters. Apart from donating $25,000 USD to the foundation and tapping LivingWorks to assist in delivering its message, Converse and The Ben Raemers Foundation for Mental Health Awareness have also concocted a special take on Raemers’ — a former
Converse CONS team member’s — favorite silhouette: the
One Star Mid.
Dressed in Raemers’ signature navy blue and featuring his silhouette on the lateral heel in black, the shoe combines classic
One Star style with modern skate durability. Apart from the meaningful color scheme and special heel detail, it also uses white contrast stitching, a white star logo on the midfoot, a unique heel badge and a two-tone midsole to round off the look.
